I’m Alex, and what started in 2014 with a single coffee van (and a dream) has now become West Berkshire Roastery - complete with two coffee roasters and a Labrador who thinks he’s the CEO.
Along the way, I uncovered some truths: coffee is the planet’s most sprayed crop. Pesticides? Chemicals? Absolutely everywhere. So, I ditched the usual beans and went on a quest for the good stuff: direct-traded coffees that don’t come with a side of artificial pesticides.
With a bit of Berkshire flair and caffeine-fuelled creativity, I’m here to bring you one of the finest (and cleanest) coffee experiences you’ll ever sip. I hope you’ll agree. It’s coffee refreshingly drama free.
Is this coffee organic and tested for mycotoxins?
Our Roastery Collection consisting of Signature Gold, Black Gold & White Gold is fully independently lab tested for artificial pesticides, moulds and mycotoxins.
They are also 100% naturally grown, free of pesticides & glyphosate.

Single Farm | Medium Roast | Washed Process
This single-farm lot comes from Zapote Farm, nestled in Costa Rica’s renowned West Valley. Grown at elevations above 1,500m, the Villa Sarchi variety thrives in volcanic soil and a cool microclimate, resulting in exceptional clarity and depth in the cup.
We’ve roasted this coffee to a balanced medium profile, perfect for bringing out its sweet red apple notes, smooth toffee richness, and a soft, citrusy lift. Clean and composed with a silky body and floral nuance, this is a cup that’s as easy to enjoy as it is complex.
Sustainably grown and washed on-site, this lot reflects the precision and care of Costa Rica’s specialty coffee craft. It's the first time ever this particular coffee has reached the UK and we're proud to have worked hard with the farmer to get this on our offer list.
It features volcanic soils on gently sloping terrain with southern exposure, accompanied by a stream along one of its edges. The West Valley is one of the most exclusive regions for producing the finest coffees in the country, responsible for an exceptionally high percentage of Cup of Excellence winners.
