Our Story
I’m Alex, and what started in 2014 with a single coffee van (and a dream) has now become West Berkshire Roastery - complete with two coffee roasters and a Labrador who thinks he’s the CEO.
Along the way, I uncovered some truths: coffee is one of the planet’s most sprayed crop. Pesticides? Chemicals? Absolutely everywhere. So, I ditched the usual beans and went on a quest for the good stuff: direct-traded coffees that don’t come with a side of artificial pesticides.
With a bit of Berkshire flair and caffeine-fuelled creativity, I’m here to bring you one of the finest (and cleanest) coffee experiences you’ll ever sip. I hope you’ll agree. It’s coffee refreshingly drama free.

The Region:
Musasa Dukunde Kawa cooperative owns four washing stations and is one of Rwanda’s larger cooperatives, with 1,193 members, but they are also working with over
4,000 smallholders in Rwanda. The cyahinda station is located in the rugged hills of Mbilima and Matovu, one of the collection sites for the cooperative, working with
517 producers. Each farm, although small in size, maintains efficiency thanks to skill and the presence shade trees. They include species such as Maesopsiseminii (Umbrella Tree), Calliandra, Leucaena, Polyciassp, and Grevillea, amongst others.
This specific lot was delivered by 130 women smallhold producers during peak season of the harvest. Cherries are hand-picked only when fully ripe and then pulped that same evening using a mechanical pulp.

No fancy words a about what flavour-notes I get, just great coffee, giving me everything I want from my cafetière, a flavourful medium roast coffee that is a delight to drink just as it comes out of the pot, black and unsweetened.

Certainly a different taste with banana tones. Ok once you've had a few cups and get used to the fruity taste.
Fast delivery as usual ! I treated these beans as Medium to light roast with a slightly courser grind in a Sage grinder and expresso machine - quite easy to dial in. Great result and a lovely taste. Still working on my latte art - 2 months in !
This Christmas yeti coffee is delicious savouring my last few beans I have been brewing it in a Vietnamese phone coffee filter which my daughter brought me back from her time there. The coffee is rich of chocolate and sweet of toffee notes simply delicious.
Tried the Organic Gold, Simmer Down Decaf & Brazil Tropical
The decaf is the best i have had in a decaf. The signature Gold is my go to as it a great taste and full flavour. Just ordering again

A delicious coffee which is part of my morning driver. I've never been disappointed with any of West Berkshires coffees, quality, super tasty coffee.
My search for coffee from Yemen was my reason for finding West Berkshire roastery. Best beans I've tried ever. The character in the cup resembles no other coffee. Took me a while to dial in properly but was well worth the effort. I will be buying this again if WB manage to get their hands on some more. Good price from these guys too I must add.

Nice enough coffee for flat whites etc but unfortunately not pleasant as an espresso or black americano - too strong and bitter

I was actually mooching around looking for some coffee beans that I could get quickly as a household member had polished my supply off without me realising. I came across West Berkshire and loved the thought that had gone in to the sourcing process. Oh my god the coffee is amazing, best bean I’ve tasted in a long time. It was really easy to dial in, 18g shot, lovely crema, splash of hot water and for real indulgence a splash of double cream. WOW

Great coffee you just have to try it
I was interested to try this coffee because of the way it has been processed and the flavour was indeed smooth. I didn’t get all the flavours mentioned in the description but I did pick up a slightly citrusy flavour. Would I buy this coffee again ? Probably not as I still prefer the Signature Gold Blend.
Brought this for a coffee lover and they loved it! Definitely taste the chocolate brownie notes, really nice beans!
