Our Story

I’m Alex, and what started in 2014 with a single coffee van (and a dream) has now become West Berkshire Roastery - complete with two coffee roasters and a Labrador who thinks he’s the CEO.

Along the way, I discovered that coffee is one big tangled mess. But there's also a whole lot of amazing farmers doing it right. So, I ditched the usual suspects and set off for a quest for the good stuff: direct-traded coffees served with a generous side of transparency. 

With a bit of Berkshire flair and caffeine-fuelled creativity, I’m here to bring you one of the finest (and cleanest) coffee experiences you’ll ever sip. I hope you’ll agree. It’s coffee refreshingly drama free.

Great coffee bags

I use West Berkshire Roastery coffee beans at home as they are really good. When I saw they also did coffee bags I thought I’d give them a try so I can use them at work. So glad I did as they are much better than coffee bags I’d tried in the past from other brands. They make a great cup of coffee. I like my coffee strong so I leave the bag in the mug as I drink it, works a treat.

They’re good!

I tend to buy supermarket coffee bags when travelling so that I have decent coffee instead of the instant coffee sachets. Bags of Gold are so much better and will be my go-to brand in future. The rich depth of flavour is so satisfying.

Just the job for hikers

These bags are brilliant - bought them for a hiking trip where even a coffee geek like me couldn’t justify carrying around an aeropress! Compared to other bags I’ve tried these are by far the best. Much more coffee in than the ones in the supermarket and taste great.

Just what I was looking for. As a pensioner and partially disabled it was such a treat to just pop the bag into a mug of hot water. The taste is great and is better than most other coffees I've tried. Here's hoping more bags and tastes will follow.Having said that it will be a hard act to follow
