Our Story
I’m Alex, and what started in 2014 with a single coffee van (and a dream) has now become West Berkshire Roastery - complete with two coffee roasters and a Labrador who thinks he’s the CEO.
Along the way, I discovered coffee is one big, tangled mess. But there's a whole lot of amazing farmers doing it right. So, I ditched the usual suspects and set off on a quest for the good stuff: direct-traded coffees served with a generous side of transparency.
With a bit of Berkshire flair and caffeine-fuelled creativity, I’m here to bring you one of the finest (and cleanest) coffee experiences you’ll ever sip. I hope you’ll agree. It’s coffee refreshingly drama free.
Certification
Is this coffee organic and tested for mycotoxins?
Our Roastery Collection consisting of White Gold, Signature Gold & Black Gold (and Simmer Down Decaf) has been fully independently lab tested for artificial pesticides, moulds and mycotoxins. Always grown naturally free of chemicals.

Great Taste Award Winner - Simmer Down Decaf:
Our Decaf Coffee is a massive hit with our customers. We are very proud of our this coffee and it is given the same special treatment as the rest of our coffees.
Sourced from Peru, producing a full-body that cuts through milk combined with great sweetness - no need for additional sugar.
Decaffeinated coffee causes such a debate in the coffee world with many customers believing that it’s pointless, drinking a coffee without caffeine. As a result it is often deemed a sub-standard coffee. Let's challenge this!

Can’t tell the the difference between them and regular beans
Lovely coffee in eco friendly packaging and great value for money.
Following a forced switch to decaf, I turned to the internet to tell me which decaf was the best! However it was a Facebook ad that caught my attention and I am so glad I clicked on the link. It is delicious! Really flavoursome. It is now a treat drink and I look forward to savouring it.
Bought this 3 times in a row now. And I will continue to do so. Best decaf coffee for home, I looked for Medium to dark roast, low acidity, nutty. It ticked all the boxes. Plus it has wonderful chart! I learned that any fruity note is too acidic for my taste. This is my go to forever coffee! Much better than the Grind at work or the coffee at we work. I always feel I miss my coffee when I’m having coffee not at home.
Gone are the days where the de-caf brew leaves you feeling something was missing from the taste.
As someone who loves coffee and is sensitive to caffeine; this has allowed me to keep my morning routine without the 'grumpiness' or 'backache' that I seem to get when I have a caffeinated brew.
I'm 100% sure I won't look elsewhere when needing to buy my next package of whole beans, high quality and freshly roasted coffee.
The coffee is excellent, and, more important, the relationship Alex can build with his customers is unmatchable. Well done, and see you soon! Catalin, Newbury
First time trying West Berkshire Roastery and very impressed. The decaff is very smooth with a delicate flavour of vanilla and hazelnut. I drink it with oat milk which makes a nice nutty & creamy drink.
I enjoyed the decaf I purchased. It has a lovely aroma and a rounded flavour. It was good to have it ground to suit my coffee making method, the Aeropress.
A good quality decaf . Strong flavour ideal as an everyday decaf
The coffee beans were very fresh, the taste was exquisite.
Really great decaf. Love it!
Smooth and delicious
I'll be honest, after the first mug I wasn't sure. After the second, third and fourth mug I was. This is the best swiss water decaf I've tasted, and I've tried many.
I allow myself one normal, caffeinated mug per morning, as a treat, and drink decaf for the rest of the day. However, after discovering Simmer Down I've been giving the 'normal' coffee a miss, going straight for your
decaf. I rest my case!
The only Decaff we’ll drink now! We don’t even bother getting coffees in coffee shops any more because Decaff is always rubbish and these beans have been a game changer for us! Utter perfection in the Sage Coffee Machine
Tried few other options Exhale, Balance, Mindful coffee, and for the first time WBR, and I loved it. Very smooth taste. Amazing service and fast delivery.very satisfied
I use these beans in my bean2cup machine. Having heart issues, I have to use decaf. Well, this is 100% organic, and Swiss Water Method coffee is the best by far. I love it and buy it by the bucket load. The delivery is quick, and the resealable bag is great—my go-to roastery. I cannot praise West Berkshire Roastery enough. Love it. I think you can tell im hooked!
I really liked this decaffeinated coffee, it’s very smooth and full of flavour as good as regular coffee. I have been using decaffeinated coffee from a well known coffee producer from Italy, this Simmer down decaffeinated coffee is as good if not better than that.
Super coffee. Smooth and rounded. A pleasure to drink. Great service too. Thank you
Fantastic decaf; lovely strong
Lovely decaf, with plenty of flavour. Very happy with this coffee!
I initially was gifted WBR coffee, and when I ran out I just had to order more. It works out slightly more expensive than supermarket coffee, but it is worth it! The taste is leagues better and not only that, it’s supporting a local business!
Very happy with all of the coffees I have had, especially Simmer Down as we do enjoy a decaf!
Great company too, don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed!
Great tasting coffee. Great service.
Absolutely love this whole coffee range, rich complex flavours, with a great decaf option that doesn’t hold back on taste. The shipping is lightening fast, shipped out same day as ordering.Highly recommend!
The best decaf we've tasted.
Just tried your de-caf coffee and I am pleased to say it tastes just as good as the full blown coffee, so when I need a de-caf I don't have to put up with a second rate cup of coffee.
Can’t drink any other supermarket coffees after such perfectly freshly roasted and ground coffee! Thinking about getting a bigger amount
Must be my 4/5 review back on the sig blend and of course the decaf, just doesn’t disappoint. Descriptions accurate, i you are on the fence just buy it
Great decaff
This is some of the best decaf coffee around! Super quick shipping and great service, will order again.
