Our Story
I’m Alex, and what started in 2014 with a single coffee van (and a dream) has now become West Berkshire Roastery - complete with two coffee roasters and a Labrador who thinks he’s the CEO.
Along the way, I discovered coffee is one big, tangled mess. But there's a whole lot of amazing farmers doing it right. So, I ditched the usual suspects and set off on a quest for the good stuff: direct-traded coffees served with a generous side of transparency.
With a bit of Berkshire flair and caffeine-fuelled creativity, I’m here to bring you one of the finest (and cleanest) coffee experiences you’ll ever sip. I hope you’ll agree. It’s coffee refreshingly drama free.

A smooth, easy-going coffee with gentle brightness and a naturally sweet finish. White Gold opens with soft brown sugar and caramel notes, followed by delicate apple lift. Its rounded body and clean, silky texture make it wonderfully balanced, with no harsh bitterness.

One of our all-time favourite coffees, the washed process Bourbon from Fernando Lima’s award winning farm.
Finca Santa Elena is located in Palo de Campana, Santa Ana and is regarded as one of best organic farms in the country. In fact, Fernando's coffees have placed in each of the last 19 COE awards, dating back to the origin of the competition in El Salvador.
Santa Elena was established as a coffee plantation around 1930 and has been part of the Lima family business since. Situated on the slopes of the Santa Ana volcano, Santa Elena is known for its rich and fertile volcanic soil. Flora and fauna are abundant in Santa Elena with a large portion of the farm preserved as a natural forest due to its location beside “Parque Nacional Los Volcanes”, a national forest reserve.
Fernando admits producing coffee in this manner is labour intensive as the many processes; weeding manually, applying organic compost, pruning the native shade canopy trees, and selectively picking ripe cherries by hand all take time and an experienced workforce. However, the Lima family’s continued success in the years following their organic conversion has come to reflect a measurable benefit to brewed coffee cup quality: Since the 2006 eruption, the family has had 16 of their coffees awarded the Cup of Excellence distinction, confirming that they are consistently amongst the best farms in El Salvador.

I'm really pleased I found this local roastery with such great tasting coffee. The White Gold is my new go-to coffee which forms the backbone of my coffee drinking. I have a 1KG bag on subscription which I then pad out with small bags from different places for variety, always knowing I'll be returning to one of my favourites. This works great in my Aeropress.

Decided to cut down on my coffee consumption, so I opted for quality over quantity. I started exploring small local coffee companies and found West Berkshire Roastery. Bought the 3 bag selection and compared it to supermarket beans.
Oh my god no comparison, I’ve turned into a coffee snob. I’ve gone elsewhere and come back and now WBR Signature and White Gold will be on repeat order.
Using a cheap scale, Timemore Chestnut C3S Pro hand grinder, and an Aeropress my mornings coffee is Awesome.
Perfectly balanced aromas and acidity. I tried the white gold roast and i love it. I would recommended to anyone who wants a delicious cup of coffee every time.
I brought a Ninja coffee machine a few months ago, tried several different coffees which all tasted bitter and burnt. I ordered from West Berkshire Roastery as they are local to me, ordered the white gold as I prefer light roast. It is the best coffe I’ve ever tasted. Will be definitely ordering again.

Decent coffee and light but I expected more aroma when it comes to V60 style since I buy light roasts for that purpose only.
This coffee is excellent and always arrives very fresh. I enjoy drinking it on weekends or in the afternoon when I am working from home, as the lighter roast provides a tasty pick-me-up without being too strong.
Amazing taste
White Gold is a really well rounded coffee but not as heavy and the bitterness is milder.
A great alternative if you are not over keen on stronger tasting coffee.
This still tastes best quality.
All coffee from West Berkshire Roastery tastes clean and fresh and lacks that bitter after taste. The White Gold is a lighter roast and has a milder taste. It works well with oat milk, I grind for Espresso to make lattes and the flavour comes through well. This sits well on the stomach which is good as i often drink my first before breakfast.
A wonderful lighter complement to Gold Blend.
This subscription is winning in a few ways, I was with another company but was finding it a bit manual to adjust delivery, so can easily do that here, love the packaging too, and postage is fast too. Most importantly the coffee roast is perfect for me, heading in the chocolate taste direction and the price you cant beat either for a kg of delicious coffee beans.
