Our Story
I’m Alex, and what started in 2014 with a single coffee van (and a dream) has now become West Berkshire Roastery - complete with two coffee roasters and a Labrador who thinks he’s the CEO.
Along the way, I uncovered some truths: coffee is one of the planet’s most sprayed crop. Pesticides? Chemicals? Absolutely everywhere. So, I ditched the usual beans and went on a quest for the good stuff: direct-traded coffees that don’t come with a side of artificial pesticides.
With a bit of Berkshire flair and caffeine-fuelled creativity, I’m here to bring you one of the finest (and cleanest) coffee experiences you’ll ever sip. I hope you’ll agree. It’s coffee refreshingly drama free.

The Region
Grown high in the Andes at Hacienda La Papaya, this extraordinary Ecuadorian coffee is the result of obsessive attention to detail from seed to cup. Founded by Juan Pena, the farm is renowned for its experimental approach to varietals and processing, producing coffees with remarkable clarity and structure.
Expect a beautifully refined cup layered with ripe stone fruit, floral aromatics and silky sweetness, carried by a vibrant, champagne-like acidity. Impeccably clean and elegantly balanced, Hacienda La Papaya is a showcase of precision farming and progressive processing — a true benchmark lot for lovers of distinctive, competition-level coffees.
Once opened, consume within 4-6 weeks for best results and before best before date. Unopened lasts for 6 months. Best kept in cool dry environment.
