Our Story

I’m Alex, and what started in 2014 with a single coffee van (and a dream) has now become West Berkshire Roastery - complete with two coffee roasters and a Labrador who thinks he’s the CEO.

Along the way, I discovered that coffee is one big, tangled mess - dodgy practices and shady tactics all over the place. But there’s also a whole lot of amazing farmers doing it right. So, I ditched the usual suspects and set off on a quest for the good stuff: direct-traded coffees served with a generous side of transparency.

With some caffeine-fuelled creativity, I’m here to bring you one of the finest (and cleanest) coffee experiences possible. It’s coffee refreshingly drama free.

Certification

Is this coffee organic and tested for mycotoxins?

Our Roastery Collection consisting of White Gold, Signature Gold & Black Gold is fully independently lab tested for artificial pesticides, moulds and mycotoxins. Always grown naturally free of chemicals.

Brewnana – Banana Milled Coffee 🍌🎂

Get yours before the monkeys do.

Born from the rare Pink Borbón variety and crafted with a special banana-milled process, Brewnana takes you straight into dessert territory. This cup bursts with the sweet, nostalgic taste of creamy banana cake, layered with notes of soft chocolate, vanilla, and a silky finish that lingers like frosting on your tongue.

Brewnana isn’t just coffee – it’s a playful collision of nature and craft. Sourced from farmer Bryan in Colombia, this limited-edition lot is as funky as it is refined, showing just how far coffee innovation can be pushed.

Whether you drink it black or as a treat with milk, expect every sip to feel like sneaking a slice of cake… without the crumbs.

Tasting Notes: Creamy banana cake • Tropical fruit • Vanilla sweetness

Origin: Colombia
Variety: Pink Borbón
Process: Banana-milled experimental

Why you’ll love it:

  • Medium body, low acidity
  • Smooth & satisfying, every cup
  • Packed in carbon neutral, paper recyclable bag for sustainability
  • Same-day dispatch for fast UK delivery

Process:

The journey begins with Pink Borbon cherries undergoing a 48-hour pre-fermentation in sealed containers, a step that builds depth and character. Once depulped, the beans — still coated in their sticky mucilage — are inoculated with organic dried, ground banana. This unique infusion creates a creamy body with delicate banana undertones.

The beans are then left to ferment in this banana-mucilage mixture for five days, developing a layered complexity. Post-fermentation, they are gently pre-dried on open patios under the sun before being finished in static silos for consistency. Finally, a 30-day stabilisation period allows the flavours to harmonise, resulting in a cup that is both vibrant and refined.

History:

Located in the southern region of Huila, Colombia, the municipality of San Agustín combines agricultural value with cultural significance, recognized internationally as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Positioned at an elevation of approximately 1,750 meters, the area provides optimal growing conditions for coffee cultivation.

Producers in this region manage a diverse range of varieties, including Pink Borbón, Caturra, Colombia, and Castillo. Surrounded by dense forest ecosystems, these farmers integrate traditional practices with modern processing techniques, supported by collaborative initiatives designed to improve overall quality and enhance flavour profiles.

A Note from Bryan the Farmer:

Hola, my friends,

Thank you so much for choosing my coffee. It means a lot to me and my family here in San Agustín, Colombia. Every day we work with care in the mountains — planting, harvesting, and experimenting with new ways to bring out the best flavours.

This particular lot, the Pink Borbón with the banana process, has been a real adventure for us. To know it has travelled all the way from our farm to your cup fills me with pride and happiness.

I hope when you drink it, you can taste not only the sweetness of the coffee but also the love and dedication behind it. Your support helps us continue improving our work and building a better future for our community.

Gracias, and enjoy every sip!

— Bryan

Apoligies

Sorry the last review I posted was actually for Signature Gold and not Paru Finca, 😅 early in the morning pre coffee, I have only had a cup of Peru finca and haven't formed much of an opinion other than it is a plesent full bodied coffee with some familiar flavor profiles which I am looking forward to tasting again, hope this hasent confused anyone on a choice decision.

Peru - Finca La Naranja

As expected the been quality doesn't change and the importance of organic produced coffee can not be stressed enough given the pesticides used in some countries are banned in our contrie. Now off my soap box and to the coffee, I found the grind size dificult to dile in but eventually settled on medium to course grind for the switch and airopres using poarover and steep combo not sure if the smaller than normal been was the reason for that, a finer grind restricted the flow. Temp 90 degrees hit the sweetness and astringent.balenc I enjoy, also seemed to bring out the chocolate profile. I can recommend all the coffee available for the quality and ethical importance, but finding the right one for you is half the fun. I thought I had reached Nervana with the Brazilian coffee earlier in the year but it hasent been available since then we live in hope it was a special brew "not from girders "

Fresh and tasty

I have tried Brazil Terra Preta beans for the first time and was not disappointed! You can really taste the chocolate and caramel flavour, amazing for cappuccino or latte.
